PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Each week the students at St Mary's are involved in Physical Education lessons with a specialist teacher. The focus of these lessons is on the development of fundamental motor skills, health related fitness and sport education.

Foundation students also participate in a weekly Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). Students from Foundation to Year 2 participate in a compulsory two week swimming program at the local Whittlesea Community Pool.

St Mary's is a member of the Bridge Inn Sporting District. This District falls under the Northern Metropolitan Region of School Sport Victoria. Selected students from Year 4 and up have the opportunity to represent the school at the Bridge Inn District Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics events throughout the year. If students are successful at a district level they can progress on to division, region and then state level competitions.

All Year 5 and 6 students participate in inter-school sport. These competitions are run as tournament days throughout the year or as a weekly competition in term 2. The Bridge Inn District competes in tee-ball, soccer, football, netball, basketball, volleyball and cricket.
